Every year I wax lyrical about them.
My bushes are setting fruit. I expect I'll get at least two handfuls. People have been running through the back for the last couple years, destroying the new bushes, and I haven't had time/energy to do anything about it.
A few days ago, I had Carlos put a make-shift fence around them. It'll fall down in a heavy wind, but I hope it deters people. Especially since I just planted three new bushes that I bought. They were advertised as vintage, as are mine, so I'm hopeful that they'll be disease resistant. And I got them in all three colors - red, black, and yellow.
So with plenty of water and sun, and a large dose of luck, I'll have several mixed-color handfuls next year.
Better go water them now.
