(Not that I had the time, you understand. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.)
I have some problems with Lackey. She does write well - there was only one cerulean sky - but she can be trite sometimes, and not think about what she's really saying when she uses an expression. And in this case, while the ending may have been realistic, it wasn't *satisfying*. She has some really great plots that tend to just miss, somehow.
So why am I telling you this? Because it was a truly great character! Vanyel, the Mage, is gay, which integrates well into the plot. Not only that, but the description could just as easily have been of Elijah! I will miss him, and his lover.
