I really don't understand politicians today. I realize that they are under pressure to campaign for reelection the instant they are elected, but do they have *no* concern for actually running the country?

It was established that what brought us out of the Great Depression was the government providing jobs. We were taught that in school for decades. Now it seems history has been rewritten (not for the first time) and the establishment of The Tennessee Valley Authority was ineffective after all. Convenient, that. For some.

Isn't it obvious that this is exactly what government is for? To turn things around when the private sector can't?
